Frequently asked questions

We currently have 8 locations (https://yboregion6.wixsite.com/home/locations)within our region that offer a YBC Youth Bowling program located in the following communities: Ottawa (Orleans and Merivale), Carleton Place, Cornwall, Chesterville, Kemptville, Renfrew and Smiths Falls.

Season Start: Most of our 8 locations start their season the Saturday after Labour Day (Sunday in Cornwall). Renfrew starts the second Saturday after Labour Day. Season End: All locations run until April, the final week of a season varies by location.

Weekly fees vary by location and age group but are generally in the $6-$18 per week range. Some locations charge a one-time registration fee at the start of the season. Some locations allow for lump-sum payments (e.g. monthly, half season, etc.). The fees collected cover many different expenses including: - Weekly dues to the bowling centre; - To fund a YBC Program's expenses (e.g., year-end banquet, trophies for kids, etc.); and - To pay dues to Region 6 that are in-turn given back to the kids (e.g., medals and banners for regional tournaments, funding for families to travel to out-of-region tournament throughout Southern Ontario, etc.).

Yes! There are four separate divisions for our youth bowlers (age as of December 31st): - Bowlasaurus/Pee Wee for those aged 7 and under; - Bantam from ages 8 to 10; - Junior from ages 11 to 14; and - Senior from ages 15 to 19. Occasionally bowlers from different divisions will play as a team (e.g., the YBO Triples tournament).

No experience required! Everyone is given an equal opportunity to participate. Our coaches will mentor and teach 5 pin bowling skills.

YES! Over the years we have had many youth with physical or mental challenges (e.g., cerebral palsy, autism spectrum, etc.) that have spent 10 years or more as full YBC Youth Bowling members and teammates. ALL ARE WELCOME!
